The custom to dispatch wedding invitations is still quite new. Formerly invitations were pronounced only by word of mouth and everyone heard it was invited. For the bride and groom the big day must have been a nightmare. Nowadays invitations are sent by mail in all sizes and shapes. Every guest is invited personally. This simple letters the bride and groom invites to their wedding day contains all necessary information which the guest should know. The invitations are usually include another envelope which contains the R.S.V.P card. This is taken from the French and is called “Répondez, s’il vous plait “. It is simply the reply card of the guest and should be returned to the bride and groom as fast as possible.

Why are wedding invitations so important?

This invitation will help the couple to get a better overview about the number of the guests who are invited to this special day. Besides, with the fact that every guest has the necessary information make it sure that everybody comes to the right place and at the right time. Directions are also sometimes added, so that unfamiliar guests could find the place easier. As already mentioned, the reply cards help the couple how many people are to be expected. Then a precise plan can be given to their Caterers for food requirements.

The different wedding invitations

Nowadays it is not held on any more to the strict rules of the past days. The wedding is decided only by the bride and groom. Usually the wedding invitations gives the tone for the day - formal, casual or sentimental. Every couple has its own idea of this day. Normally the invitations are written in calligraphy. This is an imagination form of writing in black-and-white with the silver coinage on the page. These invites are usually sent out about six weeks before the big day, to give the guests enough time to reply.
